The Amazing Bike Ride, by Lorin Nicholson
Illustrated by David Emerson
New children’s author sure to inspire
As if riding on a tandem pushbike 4000km across Australia wasn’t enough of a challenge for a blind person, Brisbane-based Lorin Nicholson has now tackled the world of publishing and has written his first children’s book.
What makes The Amazing Bike Ride such a great read is it’s the real life account of the seemingly impossible ride Lorin undertook as a 16-year-old school student from Tamworth to Port Macquarie.
In just three days, he rode his trusty old mountain bike solo 275km across some of the steepest mountains in Australia – the Great Dividing Range – and at the time, he had less than 10 per cent sight.
This courageous story has been told thousands of times by Lorin as part of the motivational presentations he makes to school students and to corporate gatherings across Australia – and around the world.
Authoring The Amazing Bike Ride was a natural progression, considering at the time, Lorin was planning another extraordinary bike adventure across Australia – and that has just been achieved.
You will be captivated and inspired by this incredible true story. Who knows? Reading it could even change your life.
Renowned Australian author, journalist and film maker Jeff McMullen says this about Lorin: “Lorin’s story shows what a person can do if you really put your mind to it and believe in yourself. It also shows that when your words and your actions are lined up you can do just about anything worthwhile .... All of his gifts he has shared with kids in classrooms around this country. I have watched people break into smiles as this gentle storyteller reminds us that it is the simple joys that make us truly happy. Only a kid with a very big heart could handle a ride like this one.”
Why don’t you enjoy the ride too?
